BBQ ribs

BBQ ribs in our family turned out to be a challenge

It turns out there is a long tradition, childhood memories of “grandpa’s best ribs’ and discussions which BBQ sauce is the best.

I gave up on the idea of doing something better than the idealised memories, and decided go for something really good. With ribs it is really not a big deal. If only they stay long enough in the oven and are not burned, they will get eaten.

But by the look on my lover’s face after he had some of these, I dare to believe that the ribs made him love me even more than before (if that is at all possible J).

The recipe is really simple:

Take some ribs. 0,5 kg per meat lover is minimum, certainly more if the meat lover is a teenager. Rub the ribs with salt, pepper, lots of garlic, liquid smoke if you have any, other spices if you like. Let them rest for 1-2 hours if you have time.

Put 2 sheets of aluminium foil on a baking pan, then a layer of baking paper. Place the ribs on that and cover with 2 more layers of aluminium foil.

Bake for 2 hours in 180˚C. Turn them once or twice during this time. Then rub them all over with a BBQ sauce of your choice*.

Bake another 30 minutes, the last few minutes under a grill.

You may serve the BBQ baked beans with it.

* You may try to make a BBQ sauce yourself, but it will not turn out as well, so look around your store in the international section for something very American.

There was no leftovers…
